The English language is the most versatile in the world because it has incorporated, borrowed, adapted, and re-borrowed roots, suffixes, & prefixes from every other language; thus, a Latin root can combine with a Greek suffix to create an "English" word. (The preservation and spelling of which is a passion of mine - but that's a another story.)
